December 17th lesson

Dear students,
Today is our last lesson before the winter break. For homework, please summarize one of the case studies related to the 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights that you can access at http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/people/features/ihavearightto/four_b/all_rights.shtml. You may use other material in your presentation, too, and don't forget to include your opinion.
Your presentation should be three minutes or more.
Kind regards,
Chris Elvin

December 11th lesson

Dear students,
Today, we will start a new topic; human rights. Please download the two files and bring them to class.
http://www.eflclub.com/rikkyo/humanrights1.pdf
http://www.eflclub.com/rikkyo/humanrights2.pdf
Your task is to choose one of the thirty articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and read the case study related to it. Then summarize the case study in thirty words, and also three hundred words. The three-hundred word summary should include an opinion. This is what you should present to the class on December 18th.
If you have not presented on language yet, and there is time, please deliver your presentation.
Kind regards,
Chris Elvin

December 4th lesson

Dear students,
For today's lesson, please be ready to deliver your survey presentation on language or language learning.
Ideally, your presentation should include 1) your question(s) and the reason you chose it or them, 2) the purpose of your survey, including background information, 3) who you chose to interview, and why, 4) the results of your data, and 5) an interpretation of your data with respect to relevance, reliability, and scope. Your presentation may be better if you show a graph or chart of your results. If you wish, you may use powerpoint.

If you have already finished preparing for your presentation on language and would like to look ahead, our next topic will be human rights. Please read the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and choose a case study to summarize to members of your class.
The UDHR and case studies can be found at http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/people/features/ihavearightto/four_b/all_rights.shtml.

Kind regards,
Chris Elvin

November 27 lesson

Dear students,
Today we will look at language. Please make sure you come to class with the two handouts that I uploaded last week.
(http://www.eflclub.com/rikkyo/language1.pdf and http://www.eflclub.com/rikkyo/language2.pdf.)
If you are having difficulty opening the files, make sure that you have Adobe Reader installed.
After we have finished these prints, there should be some time to either do your survey (if it is an in-class survey), or prepare for your presentation on language learning.
Your survey should state your question or questions clearly; why you chose the question(s), who you asked, what the results were, and what use your results may be with respect to relevance, reliability and scope.
Kind regards,
Chris Elvin

November 13th Class

Dear students,
Our next class is on November 13th. If you have not already done so, please deliver your presentation on globalization. After these presentations (if any), you should prepare your presentation on fashion or design. If you wish, and there is time, you may make your presentation on this topic.
Kind regards,
Chris Elvin
PS. There will be no download prints for this lesson.

October 30th Lesson

Dear students,
For today's lesson, we will finish our globalization presentations, then talk about fashion (you will need to download and print out the two files in the previous post), and if time, get into groups and decide a theme for the fashion presentations.
Kind regards,
Chris Elvin
PS. Please make sure to come to class with the two fashion worksheets.
